RESIDENTS, businesses and visitors are being asked to get involved in shaping a masterplan for Rhyl town centre.

Denbighshire County Council are keen to draw up a 'masterplan' for the town centre, to complement the works completed on the promenade and on-going projects. Over the coming months, a consultation will be launched to gather public views.

The regeneration of Rhyl is now in full swing - a new Premier Inn, on the former Honey Club site, opened on February 26 as well as a Cookhouse and Pub.

Work is underway on the town's new waterpark and last December, 1891 restaurant, which formed part of the renovation of the Pavilion Theatre, open its doors.

Improvements have also been made to the sky tower, which has been transformed into a decorative light beacon.

A new 73-bedroom Travelodge is being constructed. This is in addition to the regeneration of the town’s harbour and the creation of brand new housing and green space in West Rhyl.

Councillor Hugh Evans, leader of Denbighshire, said: "We want to ensure that the masterplan is led by the people who live in, work in, visit or choose to invest in Rhyl and they can get involved in a series of public events to aid in the development of the masterplan.

"This will make sure that people not only get to have a say, but have a chance to really influence the Rhyl they’d like to see in the future.

"As part of the Welsh Government’s Targeted Regeneration Investment (TRI) Programme, up to £22 million is to be made available to local authorities in North Wales over the next three years to help make regeneration priority areas more resilient for the future. Asking members of the public and key Rhyl stakeholders to develop their vision of Rhyl’s future will help the Council to submit bids for TRI Programme money which will be put to the best possible use.

"As the engagement project progresses and the Council gets a better idea of what people would like to see and what they want the future of Rhyl Town Centre to be, the Council will be able to conduct feasibility studies and work towards supporting targeted investments in the Town Centre."
