A BLAZE that engulfed a derelict warehouse is believed to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters were called to the former Kwik Save site in Warren Drive, Prestatyn on Saturday at about 2.30pm.

Appliances attended from Holywell, Rhyl, Colwyn Bay and Abergele.

The aerial ladder platform and the incident command unit from Rhyl also attended the scene, which was brought under control just before 4.30pm.

Kevin Jones, community safety manager for Conwy and Denbighshire, said: "This type of irresponsible behaviour is completely unacceptable and it was very fortunate that no one was hurt.

"Deliberate fires are a serious form of anti-social behaviour with potentially lethal consequences and we are working closely with the police to identify those responsible."

The disused building was previously used by Kwik Save as its national headquarters.
