THE owner of a touring park, who hopes to expand to create 39 timber camping ‘pods’ and an additional 65 pitches, has hit out at what he describes as “irrational” comments made by residents opposing his plans.

Noah Robinson, of Lakeside Prestatyn Ltd – the operators of Ffrith Beach Touring Park – wants to develop land at the site on Victoria Road.

There would be 31 timber camping ‘pods’ and eight “exclusive” family-size ‘pods’.

One resident, living on South Avenue in Prestatyn, said: “It [the land] should be back to its former glory when families on holiday had a fun day out, playing on the beach and then rides on the lake on a paddle boat and a fun fair, go-karts then eating in the cafes and going into the arcades.”

Further consultation responses against proposals have since flooded in.

A resident on Meliden Road said: “It is inevitable that large numbers of caravans entering and egressing the site will severely disrupt traffic and add to the dangers on this stretch of road.”

A Francis Close resident said: “I object to this land being used for yet more caravans, taking away land and facilities that could and should be used by locals.”

Lakeside Prestatyn Ltd has operated leisure facilities on the Ffrith (formerly known as Ffrith Festival Gardens) for a number of years, including a bowling alley, sports bar, restaurant and children’s play.

Ffrith Park touring caravan site has been operating since 2016.

Mr Robinson whose family have been operating a leisure business in Rhyl for three generations and who has himself has been in the fairground business for more than 50 years, said: “Evidently there is no rationale behind these comments.

“Cafes, arcades, funfair etc... these are things we have been involved in for years.

“Those against proposals, I invite you to come down to our site, make an appointment at reception and let’s talk about it. Let me hear your business suggestions.

“There has to be rationale behind these comments. For example, you need two lifeguards for a boating lake to operate and in terms of the funfair, we are in the fairground business and my two good friends also run a funfair two miles up the road.

“Camping ‘pods’ are growing in popularity – it is an adventure for the whole family. Families can take their children, knowing that they are safe and secure at night.

“Let us have comments made with some rationale behind them,

“We are all about local business and investing our own money in Rhyl and Prestatyn and up to now, it is working.”
