A MULTI-award-winning Welsh cheese has staked it claim as one of Britain’s best once again.

The Rhyl and St Asaph-based Snowdonia Cheese Company’s Black Bomber has, for the third year, been voted the number one cheese brand of 2017-2018 in a UK-wide poll led by leading trade magazine Fine Food Digest.

Snowdonia Cheese Company managing director John Newton-Jones said: “We’re thrilled with Black Bomber’s hat-trick.

"This is a big achievement, to win three years out of the last four when there are so many brilliant cheeses on the market.

The poll, conducted as part of the Best Brands annual supplement – published by the Guild of Fine Food – compiles results from thousands of responses provided by the country’s leading delicatessens, cheesemongers, farm shops and high-end food halls.

The Black Bomber extra-mature cheddar, with its distinctive hand-crafted black wax coating, beat globally recognised and classic cheeses including a stilton and a West Country farmhouse cheddar to the award.

Mr Newton-Jones added: “We are extremely proud that our best selling, multi award winning cheese has won the hearts of customers.

"This cheese has its own distinctive character that really stands out as a true original.”
