AN ABERGELE adventurer is to spend her days showcasing the best of Britain after being awarded the title of Ordnance Survey GetOutside champion.

Lisa Wells is one of 60 people selected for Ordnance Survey’s (OS) new project to help make Great Britain a more "outdoorsy" and adventurous nation.

Lisa, who plans to walk the whole 97 miles of The Snowdonia Way long distance path this year with her dog The Beast, was chosen for her ability to communicate her love for being outside. She and her fellow champions were unveiled at an event in the New Forest where they were joined by TV presenter, traveller and adventurer Ben Fogle and Zimbabwean endurance adventurer Sean Conway.

Lisa said: "Through word of mouth, arranged group talks and social media my goal is to inspire as many people as I can to get outdoors more.

"I’ll never just upload a photograph; I’m a story teller and find that through humour and my stories, that more people are relating to the adventures I have and feel that they too can get outside and have some fun.

"My playground is the Snowdonia National Park. The Beast and I live our lives outdoors - usually with a pack of Hobnobs. We throw ourselves into anything that means we can breathe in the fresh air."

The new collection of champions have been given access to OS products and will take part in product trials. They also have been given access to digital mapping products and a clothing bundle.

Lisa added: "I plan to use this award to help as many people as I can to experience the mountains safely and with confidence."

Ben said: “There are some truly remarkable and inspirational people in this group, and it is an honour and delight to be joining them for what I think is an important campaign, making the outdoors enjoyable, accessible and safe."
