A SCHOOL pupil's contribution to community organisations has seen him become Denbighshire's 50th young volunteer.
Jack Harty, 14, of Prestatyn High School, has helped Denbighshire Volunteer Centre's new volunteering programme for 12 to 15 year olds in the county reach an early milestone thanks to his involvement in the Prestatyn Young Firefighters Association, the Second Rhyl Explorers and a model railway club.
Gerry Frobisher, volunteer co-ordinator with the Denbighshire Volunteer Centre said: "Many people think that volunteering is only for the older person, but there are many younger volunteers within the community who do not get the credit they deserve.
Young Volunteers in Denbighshire acknowledges the work carried out by the under 16 year olds in the community, that many people do not realise goes on."
Certificates will be presented to the young volunteers to recognise their efforts, with different awards to be gained depending on hours of service.
For details on Young Volunteers In Denbighshire or other volunteering opportunities, contact Gaynor Jones on 01824 702441 or Gerry Frobisher on 01745 369973.
