A KEEN singer scooped a £20,000 prize when she appeared on a television gameshow.
Paula Magill, 39, of Weaver Avenue, Rhyl took part in Sky One's 'Don't Forget the Lyrics,' which was aired on Sunday, May 18. The show is presented by ex-Eastenders actor, Shane Richie and involves contestants competing by singing lyrics from popular songs.
Paula said: "It was an excellent experience. Shane Richie was great. The crowd were cheering and people were shouting, we love you Paula. I really enjoyed it."
After completing a phone interview and singing to the production team Paula, who works at B & Q on Rhyl Road, travelled to the South Bank Studios in London. She was shown into a dressing room and given the royal treatment.
"It was amazing I was in a dressing room next to Chico and Brian Dowling. Ant and Dec were rehearsing in another room. When I went into the studio the guys in the band who played the songs in the show were lovely."
Paula, who has her own karaoke business called Ab Fab, was supported by her daughter, Fara, 15 and her boyfriend.
Her friends Marion and Dean from Chester joined her on the show as part of a section in which friends could participate.
During the game she had the opportunity to gamble in the hope of winning a £50, 000 prize, but choose to keep the money she had already gained.
It is not the first time that Paula has had a brush with fame. She has already appeared on Supermarket Sweep with her father and enjoyed the experience.
Paula said: "It is great that I have won. I paid some bills and will spend the rest on my daughter. She was really proud of me."
