Ronaldo shirt boosts charity

FOOTBALLER of the year Cristiano Ronaldo not only helped set Manchester United on their way to victory in the European Champions' League final last week but he also boosted a local charity.
A Manchester United shirt signed by the Portuguese star was the most popular lot at an auction at the Mackenzie Jones Solicitors' charity ball held at the Oriel House Hotel, St Asaph. Other items which came under the hammer included a shirt signed by his team-mate Wayne Rooney.
It sold for £3,500 and the evening as a whole raised £15,000 for the Love, Hope, Strength Foundation set up by rock star Mike Peters of The Alarm after his successful treatment for cancer.
