PONTIN'S will be open for business this Easter despite speculation over its future.
A spokeswoman for the company insisted Prestatyn Sands was not under threat, with the company on the brink of being taken over by an un-named new owner.
She said: "There is currently a potential business purchaser who is looking to buy the company
as an ongoing concern. Negotiations are taking place.
"I would like to reassure both residents and tourists that Pontin's will be open for Easter and remain open for the foreseeable future. Regardless of who owns the company, Pontin's is an ongoing business and planned events will not be affected.”
The spokeswoman also refuted suggestions the camp was closed last week due to uncertainties over the future of the centre, saying it was purely because of concerts being staged at the site.
She added: "It was closed purely because of the music event. This is always the case after we hold events like this and had nothing to do with the potential purchase of Pontin’s.”
Prestatyn Sands is one of seven Pontin’s camps in coastal towns around Britain, having been established by Fred Pontin shortly after the Second World War.
As well as being a holiday camp and staging concerts such as the Prestatyn Northern and Modern Soul Weekender earlier this month and Hard Rock Hell later this year, the Prestatyn venue has become established as an international snooker venue with its World Snooker Centre of Excellence.
The centre has played host to such legendary players as Steve Davis, Alex Higgins, Willie Thorne and Jimmy White.
