A WEEK of crime prevention is being staged to boost links between police and public.
Rhyl’s Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) is holding a series of events from Sunday March 30 to Saturday, April 5, across Rhyl, Bodelwyddan and St Asaph using its mobile police station.

In Seven Wards in Seven Days, members of the NPT are working w
ith partners including Neighbourhood Watch, STARS, Denbighshire County Council’s licensing department and Trading Standards to ensure a comprehensive, informative and fun packed week.

The NPT has won an award in recent weeks for helping make Denbighshire a safer place from Denbighshire Community Safety Partnership and is keen to develop its relationships with the public.

Sgt Dave Owens, from Rhyl NPT, said: “One of the aims of our neighbourhood policing strategy is to give communities a real voice in how their area is policed.

“We know that this cannot be achieved solely by waiting for people to come to us, and we are constantly looking for new ways to reach out to the wider community and this initiative is another example of that.

“We will be in a different ward each day to listen to the local community, but we would encourage people to visit on any of the days regardless of where they live or work, which is why we have introduced a different theme for each location.”

The schedule is: Sunday, March 30, Rhyl South Ward, Bryn Cwnin Road, distraction burglary; Monday, March 31, East Ward, East Parade, crime prevention for the older community; Tuesday, April 1, West Ward, Aldi car park, Neighbourhood Watch; Wednesday, April 2, South East Ward, Rhyl Leisure Centre car park, road safety; Thursday, April 3, St Asaph, Roe Park Fields, OffWatch and PubWatch; Friday, April 4, Bodelwyddan, Spar car park, anti-social behaviour; Saturday, April 5, South West Ward, sport and healthy lifestyle.

As well as promising to be an informative week, the team hope it will enable residents to meet the police and partner agencies in an informal environment.

The week will conclude with a carnival like South West event, including a football competition.
