TWO swans have made a triumphant return home to Tir Prince Pond, Towyn.
The pair, nicknamed Jack and Jill by locals, appeared to be glad to be back home after weeks being cared for at a Cheshire-based RSPB centre, where the female received treatment after coming into contact with diesel oil.
In June Tir Prince Pond was
the scene of a tragedy in which five cygnets or baby swans were killed.
Police arrested a youth in connection witht he attack who was later released while the investigation continues.
Towyn and Kinmel Bay Town Cllr William Knightley said he was "overjoyed" to have the swans back along withTowyn resident Colin Peploe, who now hoped they would be left alone following their ordeal.
Mr Peploe said: "I am glad they're back here now and only hope nothing else happens."
Animal collector Will Galvin added hopefully with people being more vigilant the pair will have more success in breeding next time round
Sgt Rob Taylor, North Wales Wildlife Officer, said it had taken several weeks for the pair to recuperate but now they weremaking good progress.
He said: "These Swans have had a bad year.
"It's good to see them back thanks to the people at Nantwich. Hopefully they will have a good end to the year and return to breed again next year. "
