DENBIGHSHIRE: A-Level Grade upward-trend continues

THE number of students achieving A-Levels across studying across Denbighshire continues to rise.
The pass rate at Denbighshire's eight secondary schools was 96.9 per cent (A-E grades), up 0.7 per cent on last year.
Despite this improvement Denbighshire remains behind the Welsh average figure for A-E grades of 97.6 per cent and the UK average o
f 97.2 per cent.
The proportion of A grades gained by Denbighshire pupils was 20.2 per cent, up 0.8 per cent on 2007, compared with the Welsh figure of 24.1 per cent.
The proportion of Denbighshire students gaining A-C grades was 71.6 per cent, up by 1.1 per cent on last year's figures.
Cllr Hugh Evans, Leader and Cabinet Lead Member for Lifelong Learning, said: "I would like to congratulate all the students who achieved the grades they required for furthering their education, and I wish them every success in their future careers.
"I am pleased to see that we have maintained our standards at A Level with a small increase in the percentages from last year. I would also like to thank the county's teachers for their efforts in maintaining these standards and for all the support they have provided students during their studies."
