VOLUNTEERS spent a day getting their hands dirty to help remove fly tipping from a green area.
Duke of Edinburgh award students joined staff from the Environment Agency Wales at the Rhyl Cut, to help remove rubbish plaguing the stream and grassy areas off Vale Road.
Together, they cleared about a tonne of waste from the site, with similar events planned to avoid the problem worsening.
Gareth Jones, community officer for organisers Keep Wales Tidy, said: "This has been an ongoing problem and it is our aim to do as much as possible this summer to improve the situation. We are hopeful of getting schools etc involved and believe we made a positive start here, although we have seen the extent of the task."
Mr Jones wishes to thank Denbighshire County Council for their support for the event.
