A RHYL school has a new headteacher at its helm.
Catherine Britton has finally been installed as Blessed Edward Jones’ new headteacher by the school’s Board of Governors after 12 months as acting head.
During this time Mrs Britton has helped turn around the school, introducing a series of new st
rategies and policies designed to restore pride and instill confidence in the Catholic Secondary School.
One of the most eyecatching changes has been the appearance of its pupils, with Mrs Britton outlawing trainers,polo shirts and sweatshirts in favour of traditional footwear smart shirt and ties and traditional V-neck jumpers displaying the school crest.
Mrs Brittion is credited with overseeing a makeover of the school’s dining room, classrooms and th introduction of an in-school chapel providing unruly pupils with a place to reflect on their actions.
These new strategies have struck a chord with governors and contributed to the decision by them to appoint Mrs Britton.
The Chair of Governors Angela Davies said: “The Governing Body of Blessed Edward Jones Catholic High School has appointed Mrs. Catherine Britton as the new Headteacher with immediate effect.
“Mrs Britton has been at the school for the last twelve months as Acting Headteacher and has implemented many new strategies in the school which the Governors were very happy with.”
