A MAN who had to be cut free from his vehicle following a car crash is fighting for his life.

The motorist suffered serious head injuries after a collision between a Subaru Legacy and a Volvo XC70 on the A55 near Junction 24, Abergele at around 12.15pm on Tuesday, June 10.

He was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, but was later transferred to the Walton Neurology Centre in Liverpool.

Both males were cut from their vehicles by the fire service. The second suffered injuries to his right chest and a suspected broken leg and is being treated at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.

A spokesman for North Wales Fire Service said fire crews from Rhyl, Abergele and Colwyn Bay attended the scene and the two males were released by using hydraulic cutting equipment. The roof of the Subaru had to be removed and the doors of the Volvo were taken off.
