A HOUSEHOLDER has questioned why street lights on his estate have been left on 24 hours a day.
John Rabbitt of Pensarn, has complained to councillors and community police officers about the issue which has left street lamps outside his home in Craig y Don and in neighbouring streets including Lon y Gors, shining brightly throughout the last si
x to eight weeks.
He said: "It seems that the council or electricity company don't care.
"Everybody else is being encouraged to do their bit in terms of saving energy and these street lights have been buring away for nearly the last two months like there's no tomorrow.
"I can see five or six of the lamps from my home and when I look outof the window I can see them permanantly on."
The problem has been reported to us and affects a number of roads in this area; it's due to a fault on the supply."
A spokeswoman for Conwy County Council said: "Over the next couple of weeks we'll be carrying out work that will fix most of the lights, but some columns may need to be replaced, this will take a little longer.
"There are approximately 19,000 streetlights across Conwy County Borough, therefore accurate reports from the public are useful to help us to rectify these problems within as short a timescale as possible.
"To report a fault please use our on-line form at www.conwy.gov.uk or telephone (01492) 575403."
