AN AREA of natural beauty has been blighted by the activities of fly-tippers.
There has been a spate of fly tipping on the Great Orme in Llandudno, ranging from household rubbish to industrial building waste.
In one week, more than 30 bags of household waste were retrieved after they had been dumped on site.
The Great Orme is an area of outstanding natural beauty, enjoyed and respected by most local people and visitors.
Fly-tipping takes a great deal of time to remove and dispose of, time which the Country Park Wardens could put towards much more productive tasks such as education or conservation.
Conwy Council’s Countryside and Rights of Way Service manages the Orme for both wildlife and visitors, and it is protected by various designations such as Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Area of Conservation (SAC), which have international implications.
If you see someone fly-tipping try to make a note of the date, time and the place where the tipping is taking place, or has occurred, what the waste is and a description of any vehicles involved and the registration number, then contact the council or Environment Agency.
