A LITTLE kitten was reunited with his mum and family after an appeal in the Journal.

Alfie the white kitten was found up a tree in Kinmel bay at the start of January and was taken to the Colwyn and District Cats Protection League.

When Julie Parry of the league made an appeal in the Journal, his family spotted the story and rang up at once. He was quickly reunited with his mother Purdey, his two sisters and his owners, the Lloyd family of Kinmel Bay.

Debbie Lloyd, 50 of Kinmel Drive, explained how Alfie had gone missing on New Year’s day while he was being looked after by her son.

She said: “My daughter Jenny who attends Emrys Ap Iwan in Abergele was quite upset. He’s her baby. We were going to put adverts out, but then the Rhyl Journal came. She spotted his picture and shouted ‘mum!’”

The family picked Alfie up from the Cats Protection League shortly after.

Debbie said: “We are grateful to them for looking after him. We were worried he had been run over. You think all sorts. For a little cat he got quite far up the road.”

Debbie said that during his time with the League, he even made friends with a little black rescue kitten who was about the same age as Alfie.

Debbie said: “My daughter is over the moon. We are a family of animal lovers. We have four cats, a dog and fish. New year didn’t start off very well but it’s improved since Alfie came back.”

Debbie is now encouraging people to visit the Cats Protection League, because although Alfie was able to return home, many cats cannot.

She said: “People should go to the shelter. There are lots of cats who are abandoned and they need homes. The Cats Protection League are fantastic.”
