A MARKET will return to Rhyl despite criticism from councillors.
Organiser Ray Worsnop said that the market, which began before Christmas, had been a success and would run on Thursdays and Saturdays.
The market drew criticism last week from Rhyl town councillors, Geraldine Jones, Joan Butterfield and Ian Armstrong, who said that they had received complaints from residents about “poor quality” goods and the layout of the stalls.
Mr Worsnop said: “Traders want to come and sell within Rhyl. They wouldn’t if people weren’t buying from them."
Mr Worsnop said he had consulted shop keepers who were “happy” with the market He also answered complaints about stalls obstructing shops saying said they adhered to legal limits for disabled access and did not obscure shop fronts.
The market has the backing of the Dewi Sant project which aims to support underprivileged and long term unemployed people in the Rhyl West Ward.
Mr Worsnop said those involved had written to him saying how the market had helped them move forward.
