A RECENTLY revamped library has opened its doors to the public.

Rhyl Library re-opened on Wednesday  January to show off its new look to residents.

The library underwent a major refurbishment over the last few months, and according to Denbighshire Council, more than 150 visitors came to view the changes in the first hour alone.

Lead Cabinet Member for Libraries, Cllr Pauline Dobb, said: “The new-look library offers some new services including free Wifi internet access and a self-service counter, and there are hundreds of new books for customers to borrow. The children's library and young people's area have a brand new look and feel.”

The rennovation saw the ground floor being opened up with the aim of providing a colourful and vibrant home for more than 15,000 books.

Cllr Dobb said: “Joining the library, borrowing books and using the computers are all free of charge. New members are welcome and library staff are always on hand to show people around and explain what is on offer.”

The refurbishment was funded by the Welsh Assembly Government's Libraries for Life programme to modernise public libraries and introduce new services for customers.
