A ROBBERY at a supermarket triggered a police helicopter and dog search.
The Aldi store in Prestatyn is at the centre of an investigation following a robbery yesterday (January 11) at about 7.30 pm.
According to the North Wales Police, two men entered the store on Meliden Road.
One remained by the entrance while the other waited until the till was open, pushed a staffmember and snatched some of the money before the pair ran away.
A North Wales Police spokesman said: “The store was open at the time and no one was injured during the incident. No weapons are believed to have been used. Police inquires continue today and CCTV is also being studied as part of the investigation.”
The area was later searched by the dog section and the North Wales Police helicopter, but nothing was found.
The spokesman said: “Both of the offenders were described as wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered. The first offender is described as between 5’ 8 and 5’10 and of slim build. He was described as wearing dark clothing and had his hood up and had his face covered.
“The second male is also described as being of slim build and was believed to have been wearing a hooded top, had his socks tucked over his tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.”
The police are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
They are particularly keen to hear from any witnesses who saw anyone acting suspiciously near the Aldi store at about 7.30 that evening.
