MATT Limacher (Maxgear RT) won the Rhyl CC/VC Melyd Hill Climb Championship on Rhuallt Hill last week to bring proceedings to a close for this year in a keenly contested time trial league.

Limacher clocked a time of five minutes 49 seconds to again show his ability at this speciality event where the weight/power equation plays so much of a part.

But Rhyl CC’s Gwyn Lovibond produced the outstanding ride of the night up the old A55 drag to smash both the U-16 and U-18 club records previously held by former GB international Sion Jones.

The Ysgol Glan Clwyd student also broke the six-minute barrier with five minutes 56 seconds, catching his minute man - his dad Steve - in the process at the finish line.

Richie Mills (Rhyl CC) tore up the ascent in 6-03 for third and the veteran men’s prize and Melyd’s Tim Buckley posted another personal best this season with 6-26 for fourth.

Richard Lee (6-59), and youngsters Gerallt Allen (7-34) and Dave Tudor (9-26) also recorded new best figures.
