KARL Seliaerts starred as Caersws returned from Cae Baker triumphant and fourth in the league.

The former Newtown and Aberystwyth Town youngster was on hand to slot home after a superb left-wing run and cross from fellow summer signing Jack Hughes.

A physical encounter at Cae Baker had seen neither side dominate, with the deadlock only broken five minutes into the second-half.

Jacob Smith’s right-wing corner met by Gareth Sudlow was parried away by goalkeeper Llew Hughes, only for the former Airbus defender to scramble home the rebound.

With 20 minutes remaining Hughes broke down the left, before sweeping over a cross for Seliaerts to slot home with ease.

Seliaerts almost added a third when he regained possession following a poor clearance from Hughes, only for the relieved Lions No1 to scamper back and save.

There had been little to choose between the sides in the first-half with Neil Mitchell lobbing over in a rare opportunity before the interval.

At the other end goalkeeper Alex Ramsey enjoyed his quietest weekend since signing from TNS.

However Caersws took control after the break with Seliaerts in particular taking his chance to shine.

Manager Mickey Evans said: “We knew what to expect and Penrhyn were a very tough side to break down.

“The lads really appreciated all the support that travelled up on the day.”
