BUCKETS and spades were at the ready when the annual sandcastle competition took place in Llandudno.
The Imperial Hotel's Sandcastle/Sandsculpture contest saw more than 100 competitors take to the beach to build sensational sand creations.
Children, families, businesses and even North Wales Police took part in the event, with visitors to the North Shore also enjoying watching the sculptures take shape.
After much deliberation by the judges, prizes in the sandcastle division were awarded to Monika Kotowska and friends from Llandudno in the adult category, Nia Jones and family from Llandudno in the family category, Penrhyn Bay's Chwarae Teg Nursery in the group category and Faith Lewise Thomas from Llandudno collected the children's prize.
In the sculpture division, first place in the adult/company category went to InOut Magazine from Chester for their lobster and chips inspired artwork.
Group prize went to Chwarae Teg Nursery in Penrhyn Bay, and the children's prize was won by Jennifer Hughes, Claire Biglands, Ryan Boddis and Joseph Wood from Llandudno.
