CAERSWS bid to build on their encouraging start to the season at home to Mid Wales rivals Penrhyncoch on Saturday (2.30pm).

Manager Mickey Evans was impressed by his side in last weekend’s 4-2 victory over Llangefni Town and has called upon the players to build on a solid home win.

“We need to be consistent this season,” said Evans. “It was pleasing to beat a good Llangefni side, but the lads need to be prepared for Penrhyncoch who have started the season well.

“They compete for every ball and will be up for the match so we will have to be ready.

“However we showed what we are capable of against Llangefni and we will go into the match with every confidence.”

Striker Richie Evans (left) and defender Steve Jones will line-up against their former club, but player-coach Hugh Clarke continues to struggle with a back injury.

Rhayader Town make their first trip to North Wales to take on fellow Alliance newcomers Rhos Aelwyd in Wrexham.

Player-manager Dylan McPhee is backing his side to build on last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Rhydymwyn, which saw Rhayader spurn two penalties.

“It was disappointing not to have won having seen two penalties saved, but we are learning all the time and I am sure we will be that much better again for the match against Rhos.

“Rhos have started the season brightly and will be a handful for anyone at home.”

Winger Mattie Lewis returns after recovering from a head injury, while utility player Tom Rockanewski is unavailable.

Technogroup Welshpool and Guilsfield’s scheduled derby has been postponed with Maesydre unavailable.
