CORWEN A continued the fight against relegation from Division One of the Oswestry Bowling League when second-from-bottom Overton - just one point behind Corwen in the table - were the visitors to the Rec.

The home side had an excellent start, going 3-1 ahead and making sure of the aggregate with a 21-5 win from Nathan Aldridge and a pair of 21-9s from Gareth Jones and Adrian Roberts.

Further wins from Carl Green (21-11), Nigel Roberts (21-12) and Hefin Griffiths (21-14) completed a welcome 8-2 Corwen victory.

Corwen B played two matches last week, with the first being a 7-3 defeat at Llanrhaeadr C, as Corwen lost the aggregate by only five.

The Corwen side followed this up with an excellent 9-1 home win versus second in the league Llangollen B.

The star performer was Clarissa Roberts, winning 21-6 away and doing even better at home with a 21-1 card.

Meanwhile, sunny Sunday saw the president’s day competition for Denbigh Bowling Club.

It was the special day for club president Eurwen Ellis and a good crowd of members had a very good day in perfect weather.

The competition winners were Clive Williams and Phill Williams who beat John Evans and Andy Jones 21-13 in the final.

In club matches, Denbigh B had to settle for a share of the spoils with a 7-7 result in their Vale of Clwyd League meeting with Kinmel Bay.

Vale of Clwyd honours went to Trefnant with their 11-3 scoreline versus Denbigh Ladies.

Denbigh’s winners were Beti Jones (21-15), Mair Hughes (21-17) and Eurwen Ellis (21-19).

Turning to the North Wales Coast League and Denbigh B were edged out as they lost 8-6 against Llanrwst B.

Best for Denbigh was Clive Williams (21-8).
