PUPILS from Ysgol Emrys Ap Iwan are celebrating after receiving outstanding results in their A-levels.
Alice Keel achieved an exceptional three A* and two As, and will now be heading to Bath University to study Psychology.
Timothy Flack and Lauren Macgillivray also received great news, both gaining an A and three Bs to go and study Chemistry at Cardiff and Teaching at Bangor University respectively, whilst Thomas Summers and Kerry Thomas also attained high grades.
It was also a happy day in the Petersen household, as sister and brother Michelle and Michael received superb results; Michelle gaining an A, two Bs and a C to study Teaching at Bangor, and Michael getting two Bs and two Cs in his AS levels.
Not to be outdone, Emrys Ap Iwan’s AS level students also attained high grades, with Robert Blackwell achieving four As and Fiona Williams two As and a C.
A number of young pupils from the school also earned superb results, including Year 10 student Carl Makin and Year 11 pupil Huw MacDonald who both achieved
A grades in their AS level IT exams, and Sara Williams and Chloe Wallace, also from Year 11, who got an A and a B respectively in their AS level Art and Design.
Mike Williams, Emrys Ap Iwan’s Head of Sixth Form, praised the pupil’s efforts in achieving such strong results.
“I am delighted that the efforts of this group of students has been rewarded with this high level of success.
“The introduction of the Welsh Baccalaureate qualification has been a massive success and has boosted the results of the vast majority of our students.
Nayland Southorn, Headteacher, was equally delighted with the school’s results.
“These are excellent results which sustain the year-on year improvement in the school’s public examination performance,” he said.
“They are just reward for the hard work, skill and perseverance of so many of our students.
