DEDICATED A-level students across Conwy exceeded the national pass rate.

Talented pupils continued the counties long run of success, with 97.8 per cent of pupils gaining an A-E grade. Once again students scored an impressive 75.9 per cent for the higher grades A*-C.

Pupils gained an impressive 5.8 per cent for the new A* grade. Scores for higher grades A* to A were up on last year, with 23.2 per cent of Conwy pupils gaining top results.

Cllr Wyn Jones, cabinet member for lifelong learning and Geraint James, Conwy’s chief education officer, issued a joint statement.

“These excellent results have been achieved as a result of hard work and dedication by the students themselves together with the committed and professional support of their teachers. We congratulate them all and wish all students every success in their future careers.

“We also acknowledge and celebrate the achievement of our students in other examinations, which include AS examinations, vocational courses and the Welsh Baccalaureate, although an authority analysis of these results is not yet available.”
