AFTER an impressive start to the new domestic season, Bangor City boss Nev Powell is looking forward to testing his side at Bala Town this Saturday (3.45pm).
Substitute Eddie Jebb bagged a late winner to send full-timers Neath Athletic packing and the City chief was delighted with the three points.
He said: ““We got the win near the end and this is the way things have gone in the last few months for City - were’ always getting late goals and creating chance after chance.
“The lads here have got great character and though Neath’s keeper made some good saves the lads kept going.”
One of the Blues’ star men on the day was winger Sion Edwards, who received a standing ovation when subbed towards the end.
Powell added: “Sion has been outstanding in pre-season, working hard and getting to the level that he should be playing at.
“If he keeps doing that he’ll have a good season.”
In Saturday’s televised game, City take on the Lakesiders at Maes Tegid, where they lost 2-1 last season.
However in the return the Blues hit Bala for six and are geared up for the coming clash.
Powell said: “It’s all systems go for the next game - everyone is enjoying their football, the players are happy, the club is happy and the supporters are happy.
“There are 12 teams in this league and they’re all good teams so we won’t treat Bala any differently to how we’d treat TNS or Llanelli.
“We’ll work hard and look forward to the game, and with a bit of luck we’ll get a good result.”
The City boss is hoping to have a full squad to pick from, with forward Alan Bull expected to recover from an ankle problem whilst Jamie Reed will also be available with his clearance due through from Australia.
