THE final class of A-Level students from one of the area’s biggest secondary schools scored its best-ever set of results.
Rhyl High School sixth form will soon be phased out and replaced with a new state-of-the-art further education facility, Rhyl Sixth.
But ahead of the switch to the Coleg Llandrillo campus, twenty two students completed their A-Level examinations and were among the school’s best achieving class.
Among the top performers were Sarah Jones, who achieved three A-grades in English, French and History, together with James Pendleton who received A grades for French and History, plus a prized A* in Business Studies.
Helen Thornton too claimed an A* in Biology, A in Chemistry and B grade in History, while Michael Pennington earned two Bs and a C in English, French and History.
“This set of results is great for the students and great for the school,” said Racheal Phillips, Rhyl High School Examinations Assistant.
“But it is a case of mixed emotions these being our last set of A-Level results and A-Level students and students and the school have gone out on a high.”
Claire Armitstead, Headteacher of Rhyl High School, said: “I am so proud of all our staff and students at Rhyl High school for achieving the best A level results that the school has seen.
“We have achieved 60% A-C grades, 96 per cent A-E grades and 16 per cent A*/A grades.
“I would like to take this opportunity to wish our Year 13 students every success and happiness for the future.”
