A RHYL town councillor has blasted a dangerous eyesore at the town’s Ocean Plaza development.
Rhyl West town councillor Ian Armstrong said he has has received complaints about the 40ft gap in the hoardings surrounding the development.
The gap in the hordings is believed to have appeared after the severe storms in June and have been left untouched.
Cllr Armstrong said: “I’ve had residents tell me it’s an eyesore and a danger point. It is the school holidays and kids can easily get in there to play.
“It’s been there for the last five weeks since the storm, and nobody seems to be trying to clear it up.
“We’re trying to promote Rhyl and it doesn’t look good having a 20ft pile of bricks on show.”
The £85 million development is looking to bring more than 200 new apartments, supermarket, retail space and hotel to the site opposite the proposed Rhyl marina.
The site has been fenced off since the Scarborough Development Group took over the troubled project, after previous backers Modus pulled out.
A spokesperson for the Scarborough group said they were looking into the problem.
The spokesman said: “Scarborough has only recently been made aware of the problem, and are currently looking to rectify it.”
The spokesperson also indicated that they expect to begin work on the site within the next year.
