RHYL FC boss Greg Strong is looking to restore the club to what he views as their rightful position among the elite clubs in Wales.

The Lilywhites kick off their season in the Huws Gray Alliance on Saturday , and their player-manager is confident his side have what it takes to bounce back from last season’s disappointment and gain promotion.

“We’ve just got to do our absolute best to get the club back to where they deserve,” he said.

“I feel we’re the best club in Wales, with the best support and the best ground, and it’s ridiculous we’re not in the top league.”

“I’m confident we’ll do all we can to get back to where we belong.”

Rhyl have put in a number of good performances in pre-season despite not picking up positive results against some tough opposition from the English league.

Considering the quality of opposition in English league sides Blackburn Rovers, Oldham Athletic and Macclesfield Town, Rhyl can hold their heads high going into what promises to be a tough season, despite their early billing as one of the favourites for the Huws Gray league title.

“We are always looking to test ourselves, playing against some good sides, and we’ve been tested in a lot of areas,” said Strong.

“We’re looking forward to it, we’ve put in a lot of work in pre-season.”

Rhyl kick-off this weekend at the Belle Vue against fellow relegated side Caersws before a visit from Cefn Druids in a run of three home matches to open the 2010-11 season.

Arguably the biggest match in the early stages of the season however is the arrival of local rivals Llandudno Town on the August 28 in what promises to be a hotly contested affair.

Rhyl have  drawn Penrhyncoch in the first round of the Huws Gray cup, with the away tie taking place on September 18.
