CORWEN progressed into the semi-finals of the Oswestry Bowling League doubles with a narrow four-point victory over Cynwyd.

Corwen only won one of the four games - a 21-7 card from Adrian Roberts and Brian Edwards at Corwen.

Phil Roberts and Gareth Jones recovered from being 19-9 down to go 20-19 ahead at Cynwyd, before losing 21-20.

In the Oswestry League First Division, Corwen A sent third-placed Johnstown packing with a super 9-1 win.

Father and son Peter and Nathan Aldridge were best at 21-5 and 21-7 respectively.
Corwen B travelled to Llanymynech-based Division Four leaders Fox Lane.

They went down to a 7-3 defeat despite the league leaders surprisingly being one short.

Glaves Roberts (21-18) and Linda Hope (21-20) were the Corwen point winners.
