WALES Ladies took silver in the British Isles and Home Internationals Bowls at Worthing last week.

A thrilling competition saw the top bowlers from Wales, Scotland, Ireland, England and Jersey in action in West Sussex.

There was healthy local interest with the Welsh team managed by Berriew’s Hazel Wilson, who included clubmates Isabel Jones, Kathy Pearce and Caroline Taylor in her 26-strong squad along with Llandrindod Wells’ Wendy Price.

Llanidloes bowler Caroline Jones also made her long awaited debut and played a key part in Wales’ final match victory over Jersey.

Manager Wilson said: “We did all we could to take the trophy but in the end Scotland were deserved winners.

“The girls enjoyed the experience and it was great to see Caroline Jones making her debut and doing so well.”
