BOWLS: Rhos park work hard for a draw

RHOS PARK and St Asaph shared a 5-5 draw in their Blackwell Hydraulics Welsh Counties league encounter.


Sunny Rhyl had to dig deep to snatch a hairline 6-4 win over bottom of the table Llanfairpwll after the teams finished deadlocked.
 

They found themselves trailing in all four of the first round games until Paul Walley, Neale Charlton, Jason Jones, Chris Charlton steadied the ship.
 

Positions: Esclusham 68, Gresford 54, Llay 52, Llanrwst 51, Cunliffe 50, Sunny Rhyl 46, Beaumaris 43, Deganwy Roofing 42, Rhos Park 42, St Asaph 32, Llanfairpwll 30, Colwyn Bay RBL 30.
 

Leaders rhos Park tightened their grip on pole position in the North Wales Coast League with a 9-5 win over Conwy.
 

Dyserth saw their bid for a promotion slot further dimmed in a 9-5 defeat in their NSection B match at Bethesda while leaders Caernarfon widened the gap beating Eirias Park 10-4.
 

Section A pacemakers Denbigh A edged out Blaenau Ffestiniog 8-6.
Section C & D clubs had no fixtures.
 

Fourth placed Meliden A missed out on the chance to close up on leaders St Asaph by losing 8-6 at Trefnant A in their Vale of Clwyd League Division A match.
Second-placed Denbigh A drew 7-7 draw at Old Colwyn.
 

Copperfields continue to set the pace in Section B after toppling Rhyl A 9-5, but relegation threatened Bryn Newydd were blitzed 13-1 at Kinmel Bay A where Andrew Thompson was the best home winner.
 

Grove Park remain on promotion track after sinking East Parade A 9-5 in their all-Rhyl derby, while Sunny Rhyl lost 10-4 at St Asaph. Gaynor White was Rhuddlan's pick at Llysfaen in a 9-5 defeat and it was defeat for Dyserth B who lost 8-6 defeat at Rhos Park.
