TWO golden oldies with a combined age of 184 came face to face in a bowls match between Abergele and Prestatyn.

Abergele B’s Robin Williams, 93, faced relative youngster Ken Gee, 91, when his club faced Prestatyn-based Bryn Newydd A.

After a tight match, Ken (right) made the most of his younger years to emerge as the winner as the pair proved they still have plenty of ability and competiveness in their advancing years.

Les Edwards, captain of Bryn Newydd Bowls Club, praised the commitment of the two veterans who have played against each other before.

He said: “It was quite a special event to have two players in their 90s playing against each other. They are clearly both still keen to win and really enjoy playing bowls.

“Ken is a popular member of our club and is showing no intention of giving up playing soon. He is a valued member here.”
