BANGOR’S cup heroes will be showing off their silverware on June 12 as part of the city carnival.

Nev Powell and his victorious troops will be joined by the Mayor of Bangor in an open top bus procession with the Welsh Cup, and supporters can have their picture taken with the trophy as well as their Blues heroes.

As well as celebrating the historical three-time cup triumph Powell has also recently completed his UEFA A coaching licence, and has now embarked upon the UEFA professional licence course.

City chairman Dilwyn Jones said: “Neville’s success is the icing on the cake for us as far as City’s season is concerned.

“We have enjoyed a very successful campaign both on and off the pitch and with Neville and his coaching team at the helm, we are confident that Bangor City will go from strength to strength.”

However one man who will not be with the Blues next term is striker Lee Hunt, who has signed for Prestatyn Town.

The former Rhyl man joined up with the Blues in January and spent less than five months at Farrar Road, although the 28-year-old secured a name in the club’s history books with his Welsh Cup opener.

Bangor City join the rest of the top flight clubs waiting for the Welsh Premier League’s annual meeting next month to discover format the Super 12s will take and some have voiced concerns at plans for a 44 game season that would see each club meet four times.

An alternative option is to split the league during the second half of the season, with media reports having also suggested there may be a revival of the FAW Premier Cup that would see Super 12s sides enter along with the six Welsh clubs who play in the English system.
