A PRESTATYN mother is celebrating the return of two sons from Afghanistan.

Janine Pardoe from Prestatyn said that it was the first time she and her boys had all been together for more than six months.

Brothers Sam, 23, and Ben, 25, Sharp were stationed at Camp Bastion in the Helmand province.

Mother Janine said: “We’re yet to find out if they’re back for good. I’m relieved and I’m bursting with pride that they’re both back safe.”

Mrs Pardoe, who works as a nurse in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, said: “You try, but
you can never really prepare for when they go away."

" It’s hard for the people serving in the armed forces, but it’s also hard for the people left behind because you’re just waiting by the phone. If you miss a call then you don’t know when you’ll hear from them again.”

The family has strong links with the armed forces. Sam and Ben’s father served in The Queen’s Dragoons and their uncle was in the RAF.

She said: “I didn’t stop them because that’s what they wanted to do. They’ve seen all sorts over there."

“It was worst when we’d heard something on the news or the TV because all you want to do is hear their voice."

"It suddenly went quite quiet when they went out into the field and we didn’t hear
from them for a while - that was awful. It’s bad enough having one go but to have two go at the same time is horrendous.”
