ROGER Williams held on to his Brecon and Radnor seat for the Liberal Democrats after he saw of a strong challenge from Conservative candidate Suzy Davies.
The Liberal Democrat secured 17,929 votes to retain his seat in the Houses of Parliament, while his Conservative opponent claimed second place with 14,182 votes.
A delighted Williams said: “I am very, very pleased to hold Brecon and Radnor for the Liberal Democrats. It has been a tough campaign against a resurgent Conservative party.
“I just hope we are going to get a change in British politics and a change in the voting system.”
Third place was taken by Labour’s Chris Lloyd who polled 4,096 votes.
The Plaid Cymru candidate, Janet Davies, with 989 votes, narrowly edged UKIP’s Clive Easton into fifth place with 876 votes.
