GUIDE: How do I remove myself from Google Street View?

CONTROVERSIAL mapping tool Google Street View has raised concerns over privacy and security since initially launching in the UK's major cities.

Now Street View has been rolled out nationally leaving residents across Conwy divided: is it a useful tool to promote North Wales or a dangerous threat to personal security.

If you have been outraged by your home, car, or even yourself being photographed and placed online for the world to see, you can simply remove yourself by following these simple instructions.

  1. Find yourself or your home or car on Google Street View by visiting Google Map and zooming in as far as possible. Alternatively you can drag the orange man on the zoom controls onto your street.
  2. Once you have identified the objectionable image, click on the text in the bottom left hand side of the picture saying 'Report a problem'.
  3. The link will take you to a screen asking you to explain what you would like to report as inappropriate, whether it be your home, your car, or your face which has not been suitably blurred.
  4. You will then be directed to a detailed Street View image where you can highlight the specific area you wish reported with a red box.
  5. Select 'Submit' and it is done.
