PROMOTION chasing Rhyl and District twice came from behind to salvage a vital point in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Morecambe and retain fourth-place.

Rhyl must win both their remaining matches for a chance of winning promotion to Division Two.

Fielding a side showing several changes, Rhyl drew level at the change-round thanks to a well-worked short corner converted by Chris Hardy but Morecambe went in front a second time early in the second half. With promoted second teamer Lee Davies impressing up front, battling Rhyl again rallied and from a similar short-corner routine Keiron Minton earned Rhyl their deserved draw.

Rhyl’s next challenge is at relegation-threatened Manchester Trinity on Saturday.
