THREE men have been given a life ban by the Denbigh Takeaway and Pubwatch after they embarked on a night of violence in the town, assaulting two women.
They were arrested in the early hours of February 21.
The men, who cannot currently be identified for legal reasons are all facing criminal prosecution.
PC Chris Davies said: "The committee decide on the bans and not the police, neither are we involved in the voting process. As a group, they can ban people form entering licensed premises and this can apply to cases that don’t reach court, (such as anti social behaviour). It is a civil process, and each case is voted on its own merit."
None of the defendants gave an indication of plea and the magistrates declined jurisdiction.
Denbigh police said after the assault on the two females a further disturbance occurred outside licensed premises whereupon a male received stitches after having been hit by a glass.
Chairwoman of Pubwatch Wendy Evans said: “Thankfully this sort of mindless behaviour is rare in Denbigh. Most folk come out have a great time and go home without incident. In this case three victims were subjected to a horrific ordeal and that is reflected in our ban. They will not set foot inside a Denbigh pub ever again.”
Last month the Free Press revealed police had extended the pubwatch to now include takeaways to further protect businesses in the town.
Sergeant Andrew Hunter added: “Denbigh is a safe town and I would encourage people not to be influenced by this incident and to continue to enjoy the pubs. Denbigh has an excellent Pubwatch and the life ban is testimony to their determination to continue to ensure their pubs remain safe.”
Recently four other people also received 12 month bans and one male has received a warning letter, in total 33 people are now on Pubwatch bans in the town.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident that took place in the early hours of February 21, they are asked to contact Denbigh police on 01745 583 118.
