A chef appeared in court on Tuesday accused of being involved in a robbery at the takeaway where he worked.

Nigel Gray, 41, is charged jointly with Ben Kennedy, 21, with conspiring to rob the KFC takeaway at Rhuddlan and Kennedy is also accused of robbing Anita Nieniru, a member of staff at the restaurant, of £2,324.

John Kennedy, who is Ben Kennedy’s father, was also named in the joint charge but he has been bailed by police and did not appear before Prestatyn magistrates.

Ms Nieniru was sprayed with CS gas during the robbery which occurred shortly after the premises closed on March 4.

Ben Kennedy, of Rhuddlan Road, Rhyl, was committed in custody to appear at Mold Crown Court on March 19 and Gray, of Bath Street, Rhyl, was granted bail until the same date. Among the conditions he must observe a 9pm – 8am curfew.
