THE hunt for the winner of an £85,000 unclaimed Lotto jackpot from Denbighshire is over.
But the identity of the lucky individual remains a mystery after the ticket holder opted to remain anonymous.
Camelot Group plc, operator of The National Lottery, revealed the £85,399 prize from the Lotto draw made on February 3 had now been claimed.
However the winner has not signed an agreement allowing his or her name to be released - leaving Camelot unable to release any information.
A Lotto spokesman said: "We're delighted that the winner of this prize has now come forward and we hope that they will enjoy their win.”
Camelot Group plc launched an appeal for everyone in Denbighshire last month to check their old tickets after data showed a ticket purchased in the county matched five numbers and the bonus ball in the Lotto draw on Wednesday, February 3.
The ticket holder had until August 2 to make their claim with the prize money, plus all the interest it generated, after this time going to good causes.
But fortunately the winning ticket holder came forward.
The spokesman added: “It would have been awful if the ticket-holder had missed out on this substantial and life-enhancing amount of money.
“We would like to remind all National Lottery players to check their tickets every time they play."
