A NURSE from Rhyl has received national recognition for the support she gives to her patients.
Practice nurse Christine Williams, 51, works at Lakeside Medical Centre on Wellington Road, across the road from where she was born on Lave Avenue.
The former Rhyl High student was recognised by the National Self Harm Network after a patient at the medical centre nominated her.
She received the network’s Medical Practitioner of the Year and Award for Excellence.
The mother of two, from Rhuddlan, said: “I was over the moon. I love my job. I found out that the care I gave the patient has helped get their life back on track, that was really nice for me.
“It was out of the blue, I’m only doing my job. I try to treat every single person with compassion. I like to treat the patients like I would my family.
“I try to treat them all the same, but if they need extra support, I like to go out of my way to research to help get them extra help.
Christine, who worked as an auxiliary nurse for 18 years at Prestatyn Community Hospital and Rhyl’s Royal Alexandra Hospital, spent three years at Bangor University where she qualified as a nurse.
The Mayor of Rhyl, Cllr Glyn Pickering said: “I’d like to thank Christine for what she is doing in Rhyl and for the service she is providing.
" I’d like to congratulate her and thank her also for the recognition she has brought for the work the staff at Lakeside Medical Centre are doing.
"It is good to see somebody for Rhyl winning a national award.”
