COMMUTERS in Prestatyn could suffer after the town’s taxi rank was moved.
With work being carried out on Prestatyn Railway Station, the busy rank has temporarily been moved from the bottom of the High Street to the bus station on Penisardre Road.
Diane Thomas-Mealing, who runs Diane’s Cars, said: “There has been no consultation from Denbighshire County Council. We had a call on Friday to say that the taxi rank will be shut.
“We are devastated. It is going to affect the drivers’ income considerably. It is further for people to walk to”.
The council is working with Network Rail as part of its disability enhancement programme to replace the footbridge to the island platform and other minor infrastructure works as part of a wider scheme of work on the railway station building, the platform and adjacent road bridge.
A lack of consultation on the issue by Denbighshire has upset town councillor Mike German who was told the issue was “non-negotiable”.
A council spokeswoman said: “We realise these temporary arrangements are not ideal but they are necessary so that the improvements can be completed as soon as possible.”
