LLANDUDNO hospital’s late-night minor injury unit has been closed temporary.
Staff from the unit have been called into Ysbyty Gwynedd due to a staff sickness outbreak. Staff at the Bangor hospital are suffering from severe sickness bugs.
The late-night injury unit closed on Monday, February 15. It will be open during the day, but closed from 10pm-8am. The unit is expected to reopen on Sunday night.
A spokesman for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, which manages the two hospitals, said: “Some staff at Ysbyty Gwynedd have severe sickness. There is a possibility that it could be the winter vomiting virus, but it may just be a bug that started. Other staff are on maternity leave, so it is a combination of the two.”
Staffing will be reviewed daily.
