CONWY shopkeepers are urging food fans to get Google-eyed by voting for them in a national competition.
The search-engine giant have announced the launch of the Google Street View Awards, which celebrates Britain's best-loved streets as voted for by the public.
Various categories for the awards include Most Picturesque Street, Best Fashion Street, and also Best Foodie Street, which Conwy's High Street was nominated in by Henrietta Green, founder of FoodLoversBritain.com.
Conwy will now be battling it out against 19 other locations within the category in a nationwide public vote.
The winning street should offer a unique mix of mouth-watering options which could include fine dining, cafés, market stalls and delicatessens, all covering a diverse mix of food types and price points.
Mark Sillwell, owner of Stillwells Bon Bons of Conwy, said: “This is great news. It’s fantastic that Google has recognised the delights of Conwy. This area of the world doesn’t get that much attention, despite the fact that Conwy is a world heritage site. Hopefully this nomination will encourage more people to visit us here in Conwy.”
The awards, for Britain’s Most Picturesque Street, Best Foodie Street and Best Fashion Street, have been created in anticipation of further imagery being added to Google’s revolutionary Street View tool, which currently allows users to view and navigate 360 degree street-level imagery in 25 British towns, including many of those nominated for the Street View Awards.
Voting is open now and closes on Sunday, February 28. The winners will be announced in March. To vote, go to www.maps.google.co.uk/beststreets
