RHYL will look to build on Sunday’s inspirational win over Newtown when they travel to lowly Porthmadog on Saturday.
With a patched-up side, the third-placed Lilywhites came from behind to defeat the Robins with two late goals at an emotion charged Belle Vue.
Next up is Porthmadog, who have struggled for points all season, but do have two relatively recent home wins over the Lilies in their locker.
Tomi Morgan’s side cannot be taken lightly, but Rhyl will be boosted by the return of top scorer Mark Connolly and winger Chris Williams from suspension.
It is hoped striker Rob Turner and midfielder Gareth Owen, who both missed the Newtown game, will have recovered from injury but definitely out is captain John Leah who serves a one-match ban for accumulating five cautions.
Sunday’s tussle saw Rhyl take the lead on 18 minutes when player-manager Greg Strong scored with the aid of two deflections following a Tyrone Kirk cross.
Fired-up Newtown levelled two minutes later with a Gavin Cadwallader header, then on the half hour an offside-looking Jamie Breeze made it 2-1 to the visitors.
Five minutes later, debutants Sam Heenan and Andrew Pearson linked brilliantly to set up Matthew Williams to equalise.
After the break Newtown’s Paul Roberts and Breeze failed to beat home keeper Jack Cudworth in one-on-one situations, but otherwise Rhyl were on top.
In the 87th minute Robins keeper Dave Roberts saved Phil Ojapah’s header but defender Andy Owens snapped up the rebound to put Rhyl in front.
And in injury time the outstanding Pearson’s low cross from the right eluded everyone except Kirk who steadied himself before drilling home at the back post.
