NEWTOWN AFC manager Darren Ryan says the Welsh FA’s decision to block the transfer of Lee Hartshorn has compounded the worst month of his managerial career.

The FA of Wales blocked the player’s registration, on transfer deadline day, when it was discovered that the Robins would have been Hartshorn’s third club registration of the season.

It was discovered that Hartshorn left Merthyr to play for Clevedon Town earlier this season before returning to the South Wales outfit and, under FIFA regulations, a player is only allowed to play for two clubs during a season

Ryan said: “I’m glad it’s over (the transfer window), it’s been the most stressful and probably worst month of my managerial career.”

He added: “The rule is ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong if everyone was full-time with money being paid it’s not a problem, but we have got part time players in a part time league but they make the rules and we have to abide by them.”
